Creating a leader that closely follows the bottom contours, stays inconspicuous, and adheres to every irregularity is a challenge. Early attempts to make heavy, thick leadcores using traditional lead wire as the core fell short. While many solutions exist, they often lack sufficient flexibility. In recent years, manufacturers have tried replacing the heavy core with synthetic fibers possessing negative buoyancy. These new leaders are claimed to sink quickly and fit snugly to the bottom. However, real-world usage has shown that this isn’t enough.
For several years, Katran’s experts worked tirelessly to solve this issue: how to make a leader both heavy and maximally flexible? Finally, in
2015, the solution was discovered.
After testing countless prototypes with different types of fine jewelry chains and experimenting with a wide range of fiber combinations and braiding techniques, Katran developed the
CHAINCORE COMODO 80lb, introduced to the market in
2017.
What makes the Comodo Unique?
Comodo replaces traditional lead wire with a
round brass jewelry chain as its core. The chain, with a
diameter of just 0.9 mm, adds significant weight without compromising flexibility.
To enhance the coating’s elasticity, Katran uses not the standard 8 fibers but
16 microfibers of TUALON. This design mirrors the structure of a steel cable: the thinner the individual fibers, the more flexible the cable becomes.
To help you remember its name, imagine the
Komodo dragon – strong, powerful, and reliable, just like the CHAINCORE COMODO.
Key Features of the CHAINCORE COMODO:
- Exceptional Breaking Strength: With a breaking strain of up to 80lb, this leader can handle even the largest trophy fish.
- Smooth and Slick Surface: The microfibers are braided to create an ultra-smooth texture, reducing resistance and ensuring superior performance. Even if some fibers are damaged, the leader remains strong enough to land big catches.
- Heavy and Flexible: The CHAINCORE COMODO sinks quickly and conforms perfectly to the bottom’s irregularities, staying virtually invisible.
- Extreme Durability: With a diameter slightly over 1 mm and high abrasion resistance, the COMODO is ideal for fishing in extreme environments with submerged snags, rocks, and shells.
- Camouflage Colors: Available in two camouflage options – brown with black and green with black – the COMODO blends seamlessly with any type of lakebed.
